IDEA, LET’S GET STARTED!

Nunzia Bonifati interviews Carole Salis, scientific head of the Tutti a Iscol@ Linea B3 IDEA Project

1. THE BIRTH OF THE PROJECT

The Linea B3 IDEA Project, hereinafter called IDEA, is an integral part of the regional programme Tutti a Iscol@. It derives from the experience gained by the Educational Technology group (Edutech) of CRS4 in the Tutti a Iscol@ Linea B2 project (2015/2018). The latter organized many extracurricular educational workshops in Sardinian schools, based on an innovative approach using digital technologies. IDEA focuses on teachers experimenting with digital technologies. This way, innovative knowledge and practices are anchored in curricular activities and become part of schools heritage.

2. PROJECT IDENTITY

The project was conceived by theEducational Technology group of CRS4. The Department of Education of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia (RAS) in agreement with Sardegna Ricerche entrusted the project implementation to its creators, and financed it with Cohesion Action Plan resources.  The project target are state, lower and upper secondary schools and the scope of IDEA is to renew teaching methodologies, supporting and coaching teachers while they experiment with digital technology.

3. PROGRAMME

Unfolding over a three year period, the programme of the IDEA project is implemented between 2018 and 2020. It involves all four Provinces of Sardinia and is developed in two phases. A group of didactic and technological tutors are selected by CRS4 and instructed on the project philosophy. Then, during the first phase, they will support and coach participating teachers as they experiment with new methods and new educational tools. During the second phase, teachers will implement in their classes and with their students the innovative practices explored with their tutors. As part of the project, other activities such as conferences, seminars and webinars will be offered. Intended for teachers, they will be the opportunity to reflect and exchange information on technological innovation in teaching.

4. THE THEMES

The IDEA project experimentation focuses on three themes, identified by CRS4:

1. School Without Walls

2. Computational Thinking

3. Interdisciplinarity in digital teaching
